Tripendulum® is a product by Atelier Technik und Design Gabriel Schneck. The Chaos Pendulum combines modern design with high-quality materials – made in Germany.

Tripendulum turned twenty years old in 2020. For this long the family-owned company Technik und Design has been building chaos models in Munich. First design studies have now turned into a high-quality product. Over the years, new models were added and different designs and options were developed.

Today, the Tripendulum series is available in four different sizes and in more than 150 different colour combinations. Technik und Design in Munich produces Tripendulum chaos models as a family business, but above all as a manufactory. Each pendulum is unique and individually built – according to the wishes of the customer.

A Tripendulum is not just a chaos model with a fascinating scientific background. It is also a design object of highest quality, noble in appearance and absolutely durable in mechanics. Expression of the attempt to understand our complex world a little better, with a commitment to sustainability. Every user shall be able to enjoy and understand chaos simultaneously. One could almost speak of an attitude to life.

History

Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr, then head of the Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics and successor to Werner Heisenberg, encouraged the development of my first chaos model. As a good friend of the family he came to me many years ago with an adventurous construction of flat bars and metal discs and asked if the “Trippelpendel”, as he called it, could be made more attractive and above all more functional.

Over the following years, the first model was continually developed. Bit by bit the initial difficulties were overcome and a product created that could be built in small series. It was followed by new, larger models, and finally in 2017 the smallest model, the Tripendulum® 50 Mini was developed. Today, the chaos models of the Tripendulum® range are high quality and durable manufactured products characterized by high-grade materials, expertly finished surfaces and the highest mechanical precision.

Every pendulum built is a tribute to Hans-Peter Dürr, to whom I owe the fascination for the subject of chaos.
